Al-Cu-Li alloys are widely used in aerospace due to their excellent mechanical properties. However, the surface of alloy components is prone localized corrosion, when it serves humid environments such as ocean, action moisture air and Cl− atmosphere. Therefore, significant study corrosion performance typical third-generation a marine environment. The tests experimental materials carried out different concentrations NaCl solution, morphology maximum depth characterized evaluate resistance at particular time. behavior third generation (2A97-T3, 2A97-T6, 2060-T8, 2099-T83) high-strength Al 2024-T4 solution containing investigated using correlative immersion testing. results show that 2A97-T3 possesses best all under same concentration soaking respectively stronger than 2060-T8 2099-T83, but weaker 2A97 (T3, T6). morphologies 2099-T83 by deep pits large areas exfoliation while worst, indicating its weakest all. local preferentially occurred boundary region between intermetallic compounds or precipitates matrix lithium selectively dissolved during dissolution process, which brings about enrichment copper-containing residues. Subsequently, copper-rich residue cathodic relative matrix, leads anodic peripheral occurs.
